...Rejoiced in Sofia's Homecoming

Look who is FINALLY home in her own cozy bed after being at Children's Mercy Hospital for 2 months, 2 weeks and 5 days [whew!] Congratulations to her parents Kenny and Jennifer Miller - some of the strongest people I know. The Miller's faced Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) head on and WON! You three are amazing!
Welcome home sweet Sofia, welcome home.

...Built a Mother's Day Gift

I am so proud of my husband! Just look what he built for me for Mother's Day! I found this "widow box" project in a Martha Stewart magazine. Wade had no directions to follow, only a photograph. He got a bit of carpentry help from Gramps, but painted and hung it solo!

Thank you honey. Love, love, love it!

[Kind of bizarre to post a video, but I am digital cameraless]

...Brought Home a Win

GAME ONE...VICTORIOUS! - Perry 17 / Easton 12 [Woohoo!]
Cecilia is 1 of 3 preschool age kiddos on our team which consists of Kindergartners and 1st graders. Perry does not offer tee-ball, but because of our connections we were able to sneak her into the coach pitch league. The other two preschoolers got on our team because they are related to the connections - The Gonzales Family [who run the town ball program and the police department, and the city council...] We try to stay in good standing with them as I am sure this family of girls will soon rule the school...kind of like a mini Mexican mafia! Cecilia might need their protection one day.

In coach pitch, each kiddo gets a turn to bat. They get six chances to hit the ball. As you will see from our video, Ceci hits her very last pitch! The other parents in the stands thought Wade was going to have a heart attack! She eventually made it all the way around and scored a run. The best part was her slight detour towards the dugout between third base and home. Thankfully her coachs were able to persuade her to run towards home plate. It was something I will never forget.

Hey Uncle Steve! Look what number she is!

...Swung for the Cheap Seats

2 days and counting until Cecilia's very first ball game. It will be an away game against Easton. I find this very ominous as the town shares its name with a famous sporting goods company that specializes in baseball/softball equipment. Coincidence? We shall see. Wade and Cecilia got in some good batting practice tonight. I post this video to instill some fear into the little girls of Easton. Watch out. Cecilia's coming to town. [Okay, that was lame. I need to brush up on my baseball trash talk]

Cecilia is excited because they are handing out the team "costumes" at practice tomorrow. This reminds me of a conversation I had with Ceci several months ago during basketball season [I still cannot believe we are National Champions!]

[Scene] Cecilia and Mommy are eating breakfast and Cecilia notices a picture of her favorite KU basketball player, Sasha Kahn.

CECILIA: "Hey, that's Sasha Kahn!"
MOMMY: "Yep. It sure is."
CECILIA: "He is the one in the white costume."
MOMMY: "Actually, it is called a uniform."
CECILIA: "MOM! Sasha Kahn plays for the Jayhawks! NOT the Unicorns."

Ah, kids and the darn things they say. Ya know, I wonder if there is a team out there with a Unicorn as their mascot. I challenge you, dear reader, to find one. Leave proof in the comments if you find one.

...Made Milk

Cecilia and Finnegan enjoyed an overnight stay with Nana Marla and Papa Tim last Saturday so Wade and I could enjoy a wedding/reception in Kansas City [Congrats Sarah & Sean!] Although the wedding was moving and the reception grand, I am pretty sure sleeping in the following morning was THE best part! ...except for when I rolled over to look at the alarm clock and experienced a sharp pain only a fellow breast feeder could sympathize with. Poor me, right?! Well, poor Finnie too. He was out of milk by that time.

[Cottrell House. Noon]
MEGAN: "HOLY CRAP! It's 12:00 pm!"

[Meanwhile - Nana's house. Lunch time. ]
NANA MARLA: "Cecilia, does your mommy ever give Finnegan milk from the refrigerator?"
CECILIA: "Only if it's from her boobies."
NANA MARLA: "Well, I'm out of that kind of milk."
CECILIA: "You have boobies. Give him some of yours."
